Sateri Completes Higg Facility Environmental Assessment for Responsible Manufacturing
Shanghai, China. 19 October 2018 — Sateri, a global leading producer of viscose for textile and personal hygiene products, has completed the Higg Facility Environmental Module (FEM) assessment. Sateri’s responsible manufacturing of high-quality viscose has been verified with the Sustainable Apparel Coalition’s FEM tool with consistent scoring of above 80% for all Sateri’s three mills in China. Sateri is one of the world’s first viscose producers to have completed this assessment since the tool’s latest update to FEM 3.0.
Sateri, the largest viscose producer in China with three mills and annual capacity in excess of 800,000 tonnes, is committed to sustainability and responsible manufacturing. The Group is embarking on a major expansion to become the world’s biggest producer by 2020.
Developed by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, the Higg Index is a suite of tools that enables brands, retailers, and facilities of all sizes to accurately measure and score a company or product’s sustainability performance. The FEM of the Higg Index holistically assesses facilities’ environmental and social performance across all key areas including management system, energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, water use, waste management, chemical management, as well as working conditions.
Sateri Chief Operating Officer Allen Zhang said, “Verified on site by SAC-approved third-party assessors, our high scores is a testament to Sateri’s commitment to placing sustainability values at its core and putting these values into measurable actions.”
